Palm Springs woman arrested after crashing into oncoming traffic

A Palm Springs woman suffered moderate injuriesand faces DUI charges after driving her car into oncoming traffic and collidingwith another car on Highway 111 in Rancho Mirage, police said today.

The collision was reported at 2:40 p.m. Sunday on Highway 111 at PaxtonRoad, Rancho Mirage police Sgt. Aaron Eller said.

“The investigation revealed the driver of a silver Honda Civic wastraveling eastbound on Highway 111 and crossed over the center median into thewestbound lanes of oncoming traffic,” Eller said. “The Honda Civic collidedwith a silver 2003 BMW, which was traveling westbound.”

The Honda driver, identified as Brittany Kendziora, 20, of Palm Springs,was transported to a hospital with moderate injuries, he said.

The 30-year-old man driving the BMW and the 34-year-old woman in thepassenger seat both suffered minor injuries and they were transported to ahospital for treatment, Eller said.

“The investigation revealed that Kendziora showed signs of drivingwhile impaired under the influence of alcohol,” he said. “She was arrestedand remains at the hospital due to her injuries. Charges of driving under theinfluence causing injury will be filed with the District Attorney’s Office,”Eller said.
