Broken water main shuts down HWY 111 in Palm Desert

The eastbound side of Highway 111 in Palm Desert has been closed for one block at Plaza Way to allow workers to repair a water main break, according to the city.

Traffic will be detoured from Plaza Way to eastbound El Paseo and back onto Highway 111.

Repair of the water main break is expected to take at least several hours and the closure will remain in place during repairs.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes such as Country Club Drive.

UPDATE (5:14 p.m.) – HWY 111 has been re-opened.
