Two arrested after stealing car Palm Desert

Two men suspected of stealing a vehicle and tryingto steal another from someone at gunpoint in Palm Desert were behind barstoday, authorities said.

Samuel Thomas Bradford, 33, of Thousand Palms, and Ryan Lee Rusokoff,36, of Palm Desert, were arrested about 11 a.m. Wednesday in the 77000 block ofCountry Club Drive in Palm Desert, sheriff’s Lt. David Teets said.

Roughly two hours earlier, someone reported suspicious people and avehicle near Robin Road and Warner Trail.

Law enforcement officers, including some in a California Highway Patrolairplane, started searching the area, spotted the vehicle and tried to make atraffic stop, according to Teets.

A chase ensued, he said, and the vehicle turned out to have beenreported stolen Tuesday.

Bradford and Ruskokoff abandoned the vehicle in the 77000 block ofCountry Club and ran into an apartment complex, where authorities said theytried to take a vehicle from someone at gunpoint until stopped by a CHPofficer.

Law enforcement officers surrounded the area and arrested Bradford andRusokoff during a search, Teets said. Both were booked in Indio and being heldin lieu of $60,000 bail each, jail records show.
