Inland Empire gas price drops to lowest level since May 6th

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in the Inland Empire dropped Thursday to its lowest amount since May 6, decreasing 1.5 cents to $3.892.

The average price in Riverside and San Bernardino counties has fallen for 16 consecutive days and 22 of the past 23, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 6.7 cents less than one week ago, 15.2 cents lower than one month ago and 19.4 cents below what it was one year ago.

The average price has fallen 17.7 cents over the past 23 days, including 1.2 cents on Wednesday.

“The decreasing prices are the result of wholesale prices backing down when supply issues in California did not materialize as feared,” Marie Montgomery of the Automobile Club of Southern California told City News Service.
