Augustine Casino helps teachers head to the classroom prepared

Augustine Casino will give out 200 bags of free school supplies to local teachers Monday.

The supplies, which were donated by the community through a public drive and by the casino, will be distributed starting at 4 p.m.

Teachers must show credentials and have an Augustine Casino Players Club Card. The card is free, and they can sign up today if they do not have one, according to spokeswoman Maria Canchola.

Bags will be distributed first come, first served. There will also be prize drawings at 7 p.m.

“There are so many wonderful back-to-school fundraisers for needy kids, so we wanted to complement those with something that helps out the teachers,” said Jef Bauer, general manager of Augustine Casino.

Bauer went on to say “The school districts have limited resources, so these teachers go above and beyond to be sure their kids have everything they need to be productive in the classroom… We wanted to do our part to help them out.”
