Brush fire in Hemet contained

Firefighters are battling a small wildland fire south of Hemet.

Update 2:00 p.m. – Firefighters contained the fire to 9 acres. No reports of injuries.

The fire was reported at 12:55 p.m. Wednesday and is burning in grass and medium brush.

A county fire statement says 68 firefighters have been assigned along with two air tankers and a helicopter.

Weather in the region is hot and unstable, with thunderstorms and flash flood warnings in many areas.
