College of the Desert to host career and education fair
College of the Desert in Palm Desert will host a career and education fair Thursday.
The free event, “Which Education, What Career?” will begin at 5 p.m. in the multi-purpose room of the Cravens Student Services Center. The Girlfriend Factor, a Palm Desert nonprofit that gives grants to women so they can go back to school, is putting on the fair, which is open to both men and women, COD spokeswoman Revae Reynolds said.
People from various career fields will share information about their profession, and representatives from educational organizations will also attend. Attendees can ask questions about careers and find local educational programs to prepare for those careers.
Information on financial aid and scholarship also will be available.
Palm Desert Mayor Jan Harnik and Doris Wilson, associate dean of Cal State San Bernardino’s Palm Desert campus, will speak. Also sending presenters are International School of Beauty, Loma Linda Medical Center School of Dentistry, California Desert Trial Academy College of Law and a real estate school, according to organizers.
Career fields include air conditioning, dental hygiene, cosmetology, medical assisting, legal professions, landscape and irrigation, alcohol and drug counseling, real estate, architecture drafting, accounting, hospitality, human resources, culinary arts and early childhood education.
