Indio driver suspected of DUI in country club fender bender
A drunken driver rear-ended his luxury sedan into another vehicle Sunday afternoon in front of a La Quinta country club, a Riverside County sheriff’s sergeant said.
Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched at 1:45 p.m. to Jefferson Street, south of Avenue 50, where they learned the collision occurred at the entrance of the Mountain View Country Club, according to Sgt. Adam Elders.
The driver of a Hyundai Genesis, 39-year-old Indio resident Lawrence Lyndon Smith, failed to stop and rammed his car into the back of the second vehicle.
Smith was arrested for suspicion of drunken driving, Elders said. Both Smith and the driver of the other vehicle were not hurt.
