Charges filed against man in La Quinta shooting
Felony charges were filed today against a 24-year-old manwho allegedly shot two people following an argument in La Quinta.
La Quinta resident Robert Garcia Santos is scheduled to be arraignedthis afternoon at the Larson Justice Center in Indio on two counts of assaultwith a deadly weapon.
The shooting was reported around 2:35 a.m. last Friday in the 53000block of Avenida Herrera. Santos allegedly argued with a male and female andthen fired at their vehicle as they drove away, according to the RiversideCounty Sheriff’s Department.
Sheriff’s Sgt. Steve DaSilva said the victims drove themselves to alocal hospital, where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.Sheriff’s officials didn’t give their ages.
Santos was later found and booked into the county jail in Indio, withbail set at $100,000.
