Inland Empire gas price drops to lowest level since January 30th

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in the Inland Empire dropped to its lowest amount since Jan. 30 Friday, falling eight-tenths of a cent to $3.803.

The average price in Riverside and San Bernardino counties has decreased for 23 consecutive days and is 6.2 cents less than one week ago, 11.1 cents lower than one month ago and 87.5 cents lower than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price has dropped 21 cents over the past 23 days, including 1.3 cents on Thursday. The streak of decreases is the longest since a 24-day streak from July 31-Aug. 23.

“A year ago at this time, a shortage of summer blend gasoline in California ran up the average to a new record and prices only reversed course after Gov. (Jerry) Brown temporarily eased air quality regulations to ease the shortages,” said Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.

“Fortunately it appears the state had no similar problems this year and local drivers can hope for further drops at the pump in November as the cheaper winter blend of gasoline is brought online.”
