Dirt bike accident leaves one dead

A dirt bike rider got dislodged in mid-air and landed while doing a tabletop jump in Jurupa Valley and later died of his injuries, according to a sheriff’s sergeant.

The rider, whose name was not released pending notification of relatives, had already been taken to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center by the time sheriff’s deputies arrived at 12:36 p.m. Saturday at the dirt sports park in the 12000 block of Holly Street, according to Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Jason Edmondson.

Paramedics treated the dirt bike rider and took him to the hospital where he later died, Edmondson said. The sheriff’s department did not disclose how far off the ground the rider was.
