State Senator Bill Emmerson Resigns

The State Senate’s Rules Committee will meet Tuesday and discuss how the 28th Senate District will be covered until the next election in 2014. The 28th District includes Mountain Communities near Big Bear, Banning, Hemet and Cabazon.

Bill Emmerson announced Friday that he is resigning midterm saying that he is no longer enthusiastic for the job he has held since 2010. The resignation will take effect December 1st.

Emmerson lives in Redlands and has represented the area since he was in the Assembly in 2004, then winning his Senate run in 2010.

Emmerson said in a statement that “In these past few months, my passion has waned and constituents deserve a Senator with the level of commitment that I once had.”
