Coachella preps for annual Christmas Parade

The City of Coachella’s annual Christmas Parade will be held in the streets of Downtown Coachella on Friday, December 13, at 6 p.m.

Officials said this year’s theme is ‘A Jingle Bell Rock Christmas’.

There expected a large crowd to show up to watch marching bands, floats and guests of honor. Nearly 100 entries will compete for the Sweepstakes and Mayors Trophy.

The parade has been a tradition in Coachella for 35 years and the Grand Marshal for this year’s event is Assembly-member V. Manuel Perez. Perez will be joined by Coachella’s hometown heroes, according to organizers.

The parade starts at 1st and Harrison Streets and moves south to 6th Street, then the parade will turn east on 6th Street and ending at Veterans Memorial Park.

“The streets of Coachella are filled with the holiday spirit, and I can’t wait to be a part of what is annually a joyous evening,” said Councilwoman Maggie Zepeda.
