$300,000 in illegal drugs off streets after drug bust near border
A 36-year-old Mexican citizen is in federal custody after a drug bust near the border.
Border patrol agents say the man was passing through the Highway 86 checkpoint in a 2000 Ford F-250 pickup truck on Wednesday at 10:50 a.m.
A K-9 alerted agents and upon further inspection, more than $300,000 worth of illegal drugs were found in the car.
Agents say nearly 10 pounds of methamphetamine were wrapped in a plastic package.
The man, the drugs and the car were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
