Gas leak in Indio evacuates nearby businesses and homes

No injuries to report after a gas leak in Indio.

Emergency crews were called to the 82700 block of Requa Avenue at 1:19 p.m. Thursday.

A construction crew was working in an alley when someone hit a gas line and broke it.

Authorities evacuated people in three nearby businesses and five homes.

Crews fixed the line after about a half hour.
