2 suspects identified after shots fired in Indio

Indio police have identified two suspects who were arrested after an early morning shooting on Monday but they continue to search for two additional suspects.

Jesus David Jimenez, 28, and Raul Anthony Carmona, 37, were booked into the Riverside County Sheriff’s Jail around 11:30 a.m. Monday. They’re facing charges of attempted murder and discharging a fire arm into an occupied vehicle.

Police said Jimenez is from Desert Hot Springs and Carmona is from Indio.

CNS reports that Jimenez was denied bail and Carmona was free in lieu of $1 million bail. They are expected to be arraigned Wednesday at the Larson Justice Center in Indio, according to jail records.

The arrest came after shots were fired from a Honda Civic at a Toyota Sequoia at Pindo Drive and Palmwood Drive around 8:30 a.m. The cars crashed on Clinton Street when the driver of the Sequoia chased the Honda and ended up rear-ending the car, according to police.

There were two people in the Sequoia when the shots were fired.

Two more suspects were in the Civic with Jiminez and Carmona when they all decided to jump a wall near Capistrano and Clinton street. The two people in the SUV stayed at the scene, neither of them were injured in the shooting but their car was hit multiple times.

“The good thing, no one is hurt, we have two in custody and a weapon and the suspects vehicle,” said Ben Guitron, of Indio Police.

Officers found Jiminez and Carmona hiding out in a home on Santa Clara Court after going door-to-door. They also found a handgun while making the arrests. The remaining suspects are still on the run.

“[Officers] were inside my house, just in case someone jumped over the fence,” said Jesus Castro, of Indio.

Indio High School, as well as the Teen and Senior centers, were locked down as a precaution but that was lifted at 11 a.m., according to police.

Clinton Street was shut down in the area while police investigated the scene but was reopened around 11:45 a.m.

We’ll deliver details on the additional suspects when more information becomes available.
