Holiday camps for Coachella Valley children begin Monday

The Living Desert and Children’s Discovery Museum of the Desert will both start winter children’s camps Monday.

Both camps start at 8:30 a.m. at their respective locations in Palm Desert and Rancho Mirage.

The zoo camp, for ages 4 to 12, features encounters with animals and information about their habitats and species. There are four two-day sessions; children can enroll in one or all of the sessions. Sessions are Monday and Tuesday; Friday-Saturday; Dec. 30-31 and Jan. 1-2. All sessions run until noon, and parents should pack a snack and water bottle. Cost for members is $75 per two-day session, $95 for non-members. Register at http://www.livingdesert.org.

The museum’s eight-session Holiday Discovery Day Camp has a different theme and activities each day and is for ages 5 to 9. Children can enroll in one or all of the sessions, which are Dec. 23, 24, 26, 27, 30 and 31 and Jan. 2 and 3. Sessions run until 5:30 p.m.; cost is $30 for members and $35 for non- members.
