Man ID’d in deadly rollover crash, police still looking for witness who fled

The man who was killed in a deadly rollover crash in Coachella over the weekend has been identified. Police are still searching for a witness who allegedly crawled away from the crash and got into another vehicle before fleeing the scene.

Authorities said the crash happened around 3:30 a.m. Sunday on Avenue 52 near Jackson Street when a white Dodge Ram pick-up truck rolled several times.

On Tuesday, police identified the man who died in the crash as Eliezer Arechiga, 22, of Palm Desert. They said he was ejected from the truck during the rollover. It’s unclear if he was the driver or the passenger of the truck.

Officers believe alcohol is a possible factor in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact Coachella Traffic Investigators at 760-863-8990, or you can submit a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 760-341-7867.
