Marshals arrest fugitive known as Reno preacher

Federal marshals say they’ve arrested a convicted sex offender who was known as a preacher in the Reno area.

Authorities say a fugitive task force took 68-year-old James Edward Bryant into custody Thursday on suspicion of failing to register as a sex offender and possession of a stun gun.

He’s expected to be extradited to California for an outstanding warrant that dates back to October 2012.

Marshals say Bryant had a significant criminal history, including a conviction for sex offenses on a child under the age 14, and was considered dangerous.

He remained in the Washoe County jail on Friday.
