Tourism peaks in Palm Springs for long holiday weekend
“This has actually been one of our busiest holiday seasons in the five years we have been open,” Trio owner Mark VanLaanen said.
That’s confirmed when you look at the packed streets and cafe fronts of downtown Palm Springs.
“A tremendous influx of people especially our LA part-time people want to be here. Decompression from LA,” Tchotchkes co-owner David Allen said.
Scheduling this year seemed in the tourists’ favor, with a weekend sandwiched between Christmas and New Years.
“With how it’s landing this year in the middle we are getting both ends it’s really a bonus for us,” VanLaanen said.
Also a bonus, the perfect weather the desert has been having. A busy stretch, and it doesn’t look to be slowing down any time soon.
“New Year’s Eve packed, already booked. The day after, you try to take a breath but it just continues. New Year’s Day is just as bait as New Year’s Eve,” VanLaanen said.
