Police look for suspect who robbed Indio bank

Indio police are looking for a man who robbed a bank in Indio on Thursday around 2:45 p.m.

According to police spokesman Ben Guitron, the robbery happened at California Bank and Trust on Highway 111 and Clinton Street in the Town & Country Kmart Center.

Guitron said the suspect is described as a Hispanic man in his mid to late 20’s.

Witnesses said the suspect was wearing a vertically striped, light- blue long-sleeved dress shirt, a blue baseball cap with a white “i” on the front, khaki pants and white tennis shoes.

He apparently handed the teller a note and was given an unknown amount of money before leaving the scene. Witnesses aren’t sure if he got away on foot or left in a car.

The robber was unarmed.

The bank was closed temporarily while the Indio Police Department investigated the robbery.
