Man who died in Palm Springs bicycle accident identified

The man who died after losing control of his bicycle in Palm Springs on Sunday morning has been identified.

The coroner said Henry Morewood, 82, died after losing his balance and falling down an incline onto a cement foundation. He struck his head on the pavement. The man was riding on a bike path at the time of the accident.

It happened near the southwest corner of the parking lot located at 3125 E. Escoba Drive in Palm Springs.

Morewood was injured just before 9 a.m. and died around 11:30 a.m. after being transported to Desert Regional Medical Center, according to the coroner’s report.

Morewood was from Victoria British Columbia.
