Palm Springs looks for new educational board member

The Palm Springs Unified School District’s Board of Education is looking for a new member to fill the seat vacated by Justin Blake, it announced Wednesday.

Blake said his resignation will come on February, 1.

The board is seeking qualified applicants for a provisional appointment on or before its meeting on February, 25. The new member will fill the seat through the end of Blake’s term, which will end on December, 5, 2014.

The deadline to apply for the position is January, 23, and interviews will be scheduled at the Board of Education meeting on February, 11, according to officials.

If you’re interested in applying, contact Superintendent Dr. Christine Anderson
at erobertson@psud.us to request an application. Applicants must be 18 years of age and registered voters living within the Palm Springs Unified School District boundaries.

Blake has served on the Board since 2005 and cited personal and business
obligations as his reasons for his resignation, according to the Board of Education.

It is and has been the policy of the District to provide equal employment and individual opportunity to all applicants and employees without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, gender, sexual preference, veteran or disability status.

It is the District’s policy not to violate Title VII of the Civil Rights Acts of 1964, as amended, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act or any other local, state or federal law, regulation or ordinance prohibiting discrimination in employment, according to officials.
