Two small earthquakes felt overnight near Coachella Valley
Two small earthquakes — one in Orange County, the other in San Bernardino County — shook the Southland overnight.
The U.S. Geological Survey said the first of the two had a magnitude of 3.8 and occurred at a depth of 5.3 miles around 11:40 p.m. Wednesday, its epicenter 6 miles from Villa Park and 7 miles from both North Tustin and Corona in Riverside County.
There were no immediate reports of damage, although dispatchers and a police watch commander said they had received calls reporting the earthquake.
“We did feel the earthquake here, but there were no damages,” a dispatcher from Corona said.
The second overnight quake, a magnitude-3.2 temblor, occurred at a depth of 1.1 miles 2.3 miles north of Fontana at 1.50 a.m. today, slightly more than 24 hours after a magnitude 4.4 shaker in the same area.
