Fire weather watch in effect for Inland Empire

A fire weather watch was scheduled to go in effect late Thursday for the Inland Empire and mountains of Riverside County, but not the Coachella Valley.

The National Weather Service scheduled the watch from late tonight to Friday evening, saying very low humidity of 7 to 15 percent and northeast to east wind gusts up to 45 miles per hour were in store.

A fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are forecast to occur. It is often a precursor to a red flag warning — the agency’s most serious fire-related warning.
