Undefeated Welterweight to fight in main event at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino
Undefeated welterweight Antonio Orozco will fight Miguel Angel Huerta in the scheduled 10-round main event of a boxing card at the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio Friday night.
The 26-year-old Orozco, who is from San Diego, is 18-0 with 14 knockouts. Huerta, a 35-year-old southpaw from Mexico City, is 27-11-1 with 18 knockouts. He has lost three of his last four fights.
In the co-main event, undefeated featherweight Julian Ramirez of East Los Angeles (9-0, 6 KOs) will fight Derrick Wilson of Ft. Myers, Fla. (10-5-2, 3 KOs) in a scheduled eight-round bout.
“I know that he has pulled various upsets and beaten undefeated fighters,” Ramirez said of Wilson. “I know that I’m being tested with a tough opponent.”
The 10-bout card also includes an International Boxing Federation junior middleweight final eliminator between 40-year-old Cornelius Bundrage and 29-year-old Joey Hernandez (23-1-1, 13 KOs).
Bundrage (32-5, 19 KOs) will be fighting for the first time since losing the title to Ishe Smith on a 12-round majority decision Feb. 23.
Hernandez has won eight consecutive fights, five by knockout, since suffering his only loss as a professional in 2010.
Undefeated heavyweights Dominic Breazeale (8-0, 8 KOs) and Gerald Washington (11-0, 8 KOs) will fight in separate eight-round bouts.
Breazeale, who represented the U.S. in the 2012 Olympic Games, will fight Texas state champion Homer Fonseca (10-6-3, 3 KOs).
Washington will face Arron Lyons (12-14-1, 9 KOs), who replaced Washington’s initial planned opponent.
Doors will open at 4 p.m., with the first fight beginning at 4:30 p.m.
