Southwest Arts Fest Draws Thousands to Indio

The 28th annual Southwest Arts Festival once again drew large crowds to the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio.

Organizers say the three-day event attracted nearly 15 thousand people.

More than 280 artists from more than 20 states showcased their work over the weekend.

Just about every style of art you can think of was available for purchase; From paintings, to 3-D sculptures, to unique items like decorative umbrellas.

“As you walk through the grounds,” Indio Chamber of Commerce President, Josh Bonner said, “You’ll find artists that — contemporary, southwest, jewelry, glass work, anything you can think of. We have a wide range of artists that come to the show.”

The festival is also one of the city’s main fundraisers to help continue to drive local business in Indio.
