Man identified in Wednesday night’s deadly shooting
Police surrounded a neighborhood in Coachella to investigate a deadly shooting according to a Riverside County Sheriff’s Department spokesman.
Neighbors reported hearing shots in the area of Avenue 52 and Tripoli Way about 7:00 p.m. Wednesday.
On Thursday morning, the coroner’s office identified the victim as 25-year-old Martin Ramirez of Coachella. He died just before 7:30 p.m.
Callers into the CBS Local 2/KESQ newsroom reported seeing a helicopter overhead as a search for a shooter was underway. Nobody has been arrested at this time, according to the sheriff’s department.
On Monday evening, Luis Morin, 39, was shot and killed by a Riverside County Sheriff’s deputy who was reportedly serving a felony arrest warrant near Avenue 48 and Calhoun in Coachella.
