President Barack Obama’s scheduled return to Valley brings worldwide attention

Wednesday the White House announced President Barrack Obama is returning to the Coachella Valley.

On Feb. 14 – he will meet with King Abdullah II of Jordan at the Sunnylands Estate in Rancho Mirage.

This will mark Obama’s second visit to Sunnylands in eight months. In June of last year he met with Chinese President Xi Jinping for two days of talks.

The upcoming meeting once again puts the Valley on the world stage.

“The amount of attention we garnered from the Obama-Xi visit was really amazing. It was astounding the level of awareness of both Sunnylands and Rancho Mirage, and the desert region in general,” said Janice Lyle, director of the Sunnylands Center & Gardens.

The White House says Obama and Abdullah II are expected to discuss Middle East developments as well as how the two countries can strengthen their partnership in world affairs.
