Seven local teens earned the Boy Scouts of America Eagle Rank from Troop 131 on Sunday.
The group marks the 50th Eagle Scout honor for the troop, which they say is a milestone for this area.
Austin Hanousek is the lucky number 50, while the six others are as follows:
George Gregos-Mourginakis Robert Hensley Izzy Salamone Gregor Jittlov Andrew Murdica Tyler Hall
Dignitaries sent a letter of recognition to the group, including President Barack Obama, Governor Jerry Brown, and Senators Feinstein and Boxer.
The following is according to the BSA:
“Since its introduction in 1911, the Eagle Scout rank has been earned by more than two million young men.
Requirements include earning at least 21 merit badges and demonstrating Scout Spirit through the Boy Scout Oath and Law, service, and leadership. This includes an extensive service project that the Scout plans, organizes, leads, and manages. Eagle Scouts are presented with a medal and a badge that visibly recognizes the accomplishments of the Scout.”
