Man accused of murdering sister expected in court

A 35-year-old Cabazon man suspected in the murder of his sister is expected in court Tuesday.

Michael James Horton was arrested Friday in Cabazon in connection with the death of Jennifer Horton, 34, whose body was found Jan. 27 inside a residence in the 14200 block of Broadway in Cabazon, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Coroner’s officials haven’t released the cause of death, but it appeared she “suffered traumatic injuries that caused her death,” sheriff’s Sgt. Jeff Buompensiero said.

Sheriff’s officials didn’t say how they connected Horton to his sister’s death.

He’s being held at the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside in lieu of $1 million bail and is expected to be arraigned Tuesday at the Banning courthouse, according to jail records.
