Painted deer stolen from public art installation

A piece of artwork from the project, ‘Idyllwild Deer Sightings’, has been stolen. The painted deer invited viewers into the world of rock climbing and hiking.

According to Shanna Robb, chair of the art project, the deer was taken either Saturday or Sunday evening in front of La Casita restaurant in Idyllwild.

The crime was reported to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department and an investigation is underway. Officers are reviewing surveillance cameras in the area.
