Stolen car leads to police chase in Coachella

A man who stole a Nissan truck Monday night in Coachella was arrested after trying to evade police officers on foot.

The stolen vehicle was reported just after 8 p.m.

Officers spotted the suspect, 40-year-old Ricardo Aaron Pescador, driving the stolen truck in the 1000 block of Orchard Avenue. When they tried to pull him over, he lead them on a high speed pursuit through neighborhoods.

Pescador ended up crashing into a parked vehicle in the 50000 block of Chiapas Drive. Police said he ran from the stolen truck and began hopping fences into backyards to try and escape.

Officers caught the suspect hiding in a backyard after they conducted a yard-to-yard search in the area.

Pescador was booked into the Riverside County Jail in Indio on charges of vehicle theft, violation of probation and evading a peace officer, according to authorities.
