Filing period begins for candidates planning to run for office in Riverside County

Beginning Monday, incumbents and other candidates vying for elected offices in Riverside County can file their nominating papers.

Hopefuls have until March 7 to submit their candidacy declarations and other required materials, as well as pay filing fees to the Office of the Registrar of Voters.

At the local level, three supervisors are up for re-election, as are several judges, the sheriff, the superintendent of schools, the district attorney, the treasurer-tax collector and the auditor-controller.

Assessor-Clerk-Recorder Larry Ward announced last month that he would not seek a third term in office because he wanted to spend more time with his family.
