All roads expected to reopen after 5 PM
Road closures in Rancho Mirage and Palm Springs were in place all weekend due to President Obama’s visit. But there’s good news for commuters; all road are expected to reopen open by 5 p.m. Monday.
According to officials with the White House, the President is playing one more round of golf at Sunnylands before heading back to Washington Monday afternoon. He’s playing golf with Bobby Titcomb, Greg Orme and Michael Ramos.
The following roads in Rancho Mirage were closed from 12 p.m. Friday and are expected to be back open at 5 p.m. Monday:
Bob Hope Drive – Northbound and southbound from Gerald Ford Drive to Frank Sinatra Drive:
For those driving south on Bob Hope Drive at Gerald Ford Drive, a detour will be in place either westbound or eastbound on Gerald Ford Drive.
Motorists traveling north on Bob Hope Drive at Frank Sinatra Drive will be detoured east on Frank Sinatra Drive.
Frank Sinatra Drive: Eastbound at Von Dehn Road:
Only residents, their guests and service providers of Desert Island Country Club will be allowed through the road closure. Identification will be required.
Frank Sinatra Drive westbound at Bob Hope Drive:
A detour will be in place south on Bob Hope Drive.
The following roads in Palm Springs are expected to reopen Monday as well: (Some roads will reopen as soon as 3 p.m.)
Kirk Douglas Way between Ramon Road and El Cielo Road beginning at 2:00 PM on Friday through 4:00 PM Monday.
Drivers will still be able to access the airport through the entrance located on El Cielo Road.
Airport Center Drive between Avenue Evelita and El Placer Road beginning at 5:00 AM on Friday through 3:00 PM Monday.
