CHP to inspect child safety seats near the Riverside County Fair today

The California Highway Patrol will inspect child vehicle safety seats today near the Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival.

Inspections are scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Cardenas market, 82266 Highway 111, following the fair’s annual Presidents Day parade.

Inspections and installations are free, done by certified technicians and take about 30 minutes, according to the CHP.

“Technicians will answer any questions and demonstrate the proper way to secure children into each seat. The technicians will also cover at what ages the children are to graduate to the next seat size and type,” CHP Officer Mike Radford said.

Children under 8 years old and 4 feet, 9 inches tall are required to ride in an approved child safety seat in California, and parents of newborns must have a child safety seat installed correctly in their vehicle before the baby can leave the hospital.
