Behind-the-scenes look at how the Dolby Theater gets ready for Oscar Sunday

“In every way, it’s an event with a Capital E,” film critic and historian Leonard Maltin said.

Long before the stars align on the red carpet Oscar Sunday, this all happens. Spectator bleachers, media risers, tents, lights, lots of cameras…in preparation of all the action.

We caught up with film critic and historian Leonard Maltin.

“It’s a bit deglamorized with the tarp, but there is an electricity in the air,” Maltin said.

Fans come from near and very very far – for a chance to walk on this famous carpet.

“When we’re at home in England on Sunday we will say we have been here,” Carole Clark said.

“It’s very exciting. I look down and I’m like I’m on the red carpet!” Kaylin LaPorte.

Never mind the plastic – they’re here, mesmerized even at the preparation.

In three days, the likes of Julia Roberts and Brad Pitt will walk this same carpet, chat with media, and grace on inside.

“Every day every hour we get closer to that Sunday event you can feel adrenaline flowing,” Maltin said.

A weekend that’s electric – also with a capital E.
