New fashion mall in the works in Rancho Mirage
If it seems to you all of a sudden you started seeing the word Saxony all over the Coachella Valley, you’re right. The Saxony Group does a little bit of everything – there’s Saxony Real Estate, Saxony Custom Homes, Saxony Film Studio – and now in the works, the Saxony Fashion Mall in Rancho Mirage, below the Ritz Carlton.
“The center of the valley, with Rancho Mirage and Palm Desert, has become the center of retail,” Curt Watts from Rancho Mirage City Hall said.
The 220,000 square foot fashion mall will include underground, air conditioned parking and will boast retailers, restaurants, and entertainment.
“There are going to be 80 designers that are not here in the valley. Designers like Versace, Donna Karen,” Jim Mullin of Saxony Group said.
“It’s kind of making us ‘market central’ if you will for everyone whether they are a resident or visitor to the valley,” Watts added.
An exciting prospective new member to the Rancho Mirage Family – and the local economy.
“Our sales tax and transient occupancy tax from hotels generate over half of the revenue to our city. That helps us fund all our locals services whether it’s fire, police, road improvements. That revenue is very important to us,” Watts said.
This fashion mall will provide about 1000 full and part time jobs.
“We’re going to be hiring people from the valley. We have several projects in the plans right now and we really want to help this area,” Mullin said.
The mall should open at the end of 2015.
“It’s been great being involved in the architecture meetings and see what’s really coming here. It’s absolutely breathtakingly beautiful,” Mullin said.
