Main target area was Dream Homes neighborhood
The Cathedral City Police Department said there’s been a recent increase in crime in the Dream Homes neighborhood.
On Wednesday, officers hit the streets at 6 a.m. with the California Highway Patrol, Riverside County Sheriff’s Department and gang task force.
The investigation led authorities to 24 locations. The majority of the arrests were made in the Dream Homes neighborhood in Cathedral City.
Police said they arrested seven adults and three juveniles; the youngest being 13 years old. Authorities confiscated 12 firearms, ammo, stolen property and drugs.
The primary goal was to ensure residents of the Dream Homes that police are there for them, as they continue their efforts to keep the area safe from drugs and violence.
Officers said this sweep was just the beginning. They plan on more search operations to crack down on the Barrio Gang violence and make the city a safer place to live.
The sweep lasted until 3:30 p.m. Officers set up a command post at the Salvation Army.
