Suspect in Pinyon Pines shooting arrested
Police were investigating a Pinyon Pines attack Thursday and had arrested a Desert Hot Springs man for the crime.
James Paul Poling, 30, is accused of shooting at an occupied residence early Thursday evening at approximately 5:00 p.m.
Investigators said Poling also threatened a woman with a gun at the home on the 56000 block of Las Rocas before firing several shots at the building.
A juvenile was also in the home when several shots were fired.
Police said the woman was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Pinyon Pines is up in the Santa Rosa Mountains just south of Palm Desert.
Police arrested Poling several hours later in a wilderness area near the home several hours later Thursday night.
He had been out of jail on bail for another offense, but was taken into custody again and booked into the Riverside County Jail in Indio charged with assault with a deadly weapon, shooting at an inhabited dwelling, felon in possession of a firearm, and committing a felony while on bail.
