Border Patrol finds close to 275 lbs. of abandoned marijuana

On Sunday, U.S. Border Patrol agents found bundles of marijuana that totaled close to 275 lbs.

The marijuana was discovered around 10:30 p.m., about a half mile east of Gordons Well and south of Interstate 8, according to authorities.

Agents said the area is about 30 miles east of the Calexico downtown Port of Entry. The land is known for off-road enthusiasts.

The pot bundles were turned over to the DEA. The marijuana is estimated to be worth about $123,750, according to officials.

Agents asks the public to report any suspicious activity by calling the Border Community Threat Hotline at 1-800-901-2003.
