Large donation to Arnold Palmer Prostate Center

Members of the Oasis Country Club presented a check for $33,000 to the Arnold Palmer Prostate Center at Eisenhower Lucy Curci Cancer Center Monday.

The money was raised during the Art Bowman Classic golf tournament.

That event began as a small tournament for the men’s club at Oasis to honor their friend who had prostate cancer, and it has grown into a huge fund raiser.

“Every year more and more people have gotten involved in it,” Oasis Men’s Golf Club President, Paul Rustigian said. “It creates more interest and we’ve grown it every year. It’s our fifth year and our best year ever.”

Rustigian stresses that the money raised stays in the Coachella Valley and is used for the benefit of local residents at the Arnold Palmer Prostate Center.

“It’s a very worthy organization,” Rustigian said, “And we’re glad to be able to help.”

Arnold Palmer is a prostate cancer survivor. He advocates getting tested for prostate cancer because the earlier it is detected, the better the outcome.

“The funds this group raises supports so much of what we do,” said Eisenhower Director of Community Outreach, Alison Sachs.
