Two people killed in I-10 crash identified

The Riverside County Fire Department, CAL FIRE and CHP responded to a deadly accident on I-10 near Cottonwood Springs Road in Indio on Sunday night.

Rescue crews were called out just after 5:00 p.m. after an SUV rolled several times on the interstate.

According to the Riverside County Coroner’s Office, Casey Pechac, 33, and 62-year-old Barbara Ledden were both killed in the crash.

Authorities said the SUV they were traveling in lost control due to tire failure. Pechac was the passenger and was ejected in the crash. He wasn’t wearing a seat belt.

Ledden was wearing a seat belt but also died at the scene.

Seven other people were taken to the hospital after the SUV rolled; four with major injuries and three were injured moderately.

An air ambulance and a total of four ground ambulances responded to the crash.

There was no information released regarding the people who were taken to the hospital.
