Indio names gated community cleanest in the city

Jack Daughery, is a resident and the HOA president at the Bridge at Jefferson in Indio. He’s more than proud of his gated neighborhood, named the cleanest community by the city of Indio. It was recognized at Wednesday’s City Council meeting.

“We’ve built a lot of pride and all of the houses work hard to keep houses and garages painted,” said Daughery.

The 124-home complex was judged from the inside out on individual home appearance and curb appeal. Plus, common areas and its exterior at Ave. 48 and Jefferson Street.

This is the first neighborhood commendation award of its kind for Indio, aimed at inspiring other communities to do their part to beautify the city.

Resident and homeowners association vice president Catherine Dean said it starts at your own doorstep.

“The main thing is to be responsible for your own lot. If you take care of it others will do the same,” said Dean.

However, it can be tougher during festival season.

“We’ve had our fair share of garbage,” said Daughery.

The community now works closely with Goldenvoice and the city to prevent that each year.
