Police search for bank robber in Indio

A U.S. Bank branch in Indio was robbed Friday afternoon, but no one was hurt, police reported. The robbery was reported shortly before 4 p.m. at the bank at Highway 111 and Monroe Street.

According to Indio Police Spokesman Ben Guitron, “the suspect stood in line, walked up to a teller when it was his turn, handed the teller a note demanding money. The teller complied and he exited the north doors of the bank.”

Guitron says the suspect is described as a Hispanic man between 30-40, medium build, around 160 pounds, 5’5 feet tall. He was wearing a green and white checkered button down dress shirt, blue jean, black belt and black shoes. He was also wearing a baseball cap, light on the front and dark on the back, with Rockies on the front.

The suspect was last seen getting on a BMX bicycle outside the bank and he rode off westbound crossing Monroe Street. No gun was seen and nobody was hurt. The bank was closed after the robbery.

This is the 2nd time this year the U.S. Bank in Indio has been robbed. The last robbery occurred on February 18th.
