Police raid unauthorized medical marijuana dispensary

Two men have been arrested after the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department served search warrants for operating a marijuana dispensary in a prohibited area, and for selling pot to customers who didn’t have medical cards.

Authorities said a marijuana dispensary called the Top Shelf Wellness Center was raided by the sheriff’s Marijuana Enforcement Team on Thursday, May 1.

It’s located at 604 40th Street in San Bernardino.

The dispensary was being operated in violation of the San Bernardino County ordinance prohibiting marijuana dispensaries and continued to operate after receiving cease and desist notifications, according to the sheriff’s department.

A second search warrant was served on Friday after detectives discovered employees were selling marijuana to customers without doctor-approved medical marijuana recommendations.

Highland resident Rodrick Walker, 37, and 23-year-old Kenneth Hunt of Apple Valley, were the only employees at the business when detectives served the search warrant, according to the sheriff’s release.

A fully-loaded .357 revolver that was reported stolen out of Hesperia was found among the jars of marijuana.

About 5 lbs. of marijuana and 15 grams of concentrated cannabis were seized in the raid.

Authorities said Walker and Hunt were booked at the Central Detention Center for felony sales of marijuana and possession of a stolen firearm. Walker was also charged for being a previously convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
