2 arrested after drive-by-shooting in Cathedral City

Two men have been arrested in connection to a drive-by-shooting in Cathedral City that sent a woman to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg.

Kevin Quincy, a 27-year-old from Cathedral City, and 22-year-old Jose Flores of Desert Hot Springs were taken into custody on Monday after they were seen with a handgun at the T-Mobile store at Landau Boulevard and Vista Chino.

Police found them in a car outside the store. Quincy ran from officers into a nearby neighborhood and dropped a gun on his way.

Officers found him hiding in a backyard and placed him under arrest. He was identified as the suspected shooter in the Cathedral City incident.

The shooting happened around 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, on Wishing Well Trail. The investigation revealed that a car full of men fired at least one handgun at people who were parked in the victim’s driveway.

Police said it didn’t appear the woman was the suspects’ intended target.

Jose Flores was identified as the man driving the suspected vehicle during the shooting.

Both men were booked into the Riverside County Jail for weapons charges, assault with a deadly weapon and aiding in the commission of a felony, police said.
