Man arrested for setting fire inside Hard Rock Hotel

The Palm Springs Police Department arrested a 21 year old man from Hemet after investigators determined he intentionally set fire to a room at the Hard Rock Hotel early Tuesday morning.

According to police, Aaron Thomas Beaver caused $2,000 in damage to the carpet and other hotel property.

The fire was started around 5:15 a.m.

P.S.P.D. and the Palm Springs Fire Department discovered that Beaver was invited into a hotel room by people he didn’t know. He was asked to leave the room after an argument, according to police.

A little while later, two people staying there returned to find their hotel room was on fire. They were able to extinguish the fire themselves. One person was in the room sleeping at the time but nobody was injured, police said in a statement.

Investigators arrested Beaver on felony charges of arson to an inhabited structure and burglary.

He was taken into custody around 7:45 p.m. Tuesday and booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning.
