Missing woman’s brother shares new insight

News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 spoke to the brother of a missing Cathedral City woman on Wednesday afternoon. He said his sister wasn’t herself for the last month.

The Cathedral City Police Department has been asking for the public’s assistance in locating Dulce Aguero, 29, and her two children, 7-year-old Alondra Aguero and 5-year-old Joseph Diaz.

They were last seen in Cathedral City on Friday evening, 5-16-14. Dulce had dinner with her children and a friend at a local restaurant and then returned to her friend’s home.

Shortly thereafter, she left the location with her children. She told her friend that she and her children were going to a “church retreat” and received a ride from an unidentified person.

But the family didn’t attend a church retreat and the children have been absent from school.

She and her children were reported missing to police by her family and their information has been shared with other law enforcement agencies, along with being entered into the National Missing Person’s Database.

Dulce has no known transportation and isn’t expected to be driving a car. There is no description of the vehicle she and her children left in on Friday.

No clothing or other descriptions are available either.

“At this time, Cathedral City detectives have interviewed family and there is currently no reason to believe the children/family has been abducted or are victims of any other crime. We are concerned about the mental well-being of Dulce. However, as young children, the welfare of Alondra and Joseph are our highest priority and our officers and detectives are double-checking all information and all potential locations where the family may be located.”

According to Dulce’s brother, she was being monitored closely by family for the past month because she had been taking medication for a bacterial infection. He said she was doing fine until she stopped taking the medication.

He also said his sister didn’t have family problems but she was experiencing extreme fear, wasn’t sleeping or eating well, and she was very anxious. Dulce was taken to a local hospital about a month ago due to the symptoms, according to her brother.

He wants the public to know Dulce is a good mother and the family hopes for her safe return. He said the police department hasn’t given the family much information at this point.
