Annual Memorial Day Flower Drop thrills crowds below

A World War II B-25 bomber dropped flowers above the Palm Springs Air Museum.

3,000 red and white carnations landed on families and veterans below. The red — signifying those lost in current conflict.. and the white carnations are for those of wars past. Nearly one thousand people were there, in temperatures nearing 110 degrees.

“I thought it was really neat,” says Leanne and David Allred. “A once in a lifetime experience. It was worth the wait in the heat.”
